It is common, when excavating to find strange contraptions or, mechanical oddities, or in some very rare cases, entire buildings filled with wondrous devices. These creations predate all known written history. They certainly served some purpose once upon a time, but the time that has passed since it’s last use and now has ravaged the device leaving it now useless. However, certain people have found themselves to be quite adept at understanding these arcane machines, and in very sparse cases, have even found a way to duplicate them, by taking parts of technology that they have unearthed, and replacing or rebuilding parts of it.
Indoor plumbing in large urban centers, and low tech mass production are one such convenience derived from ancient technology. Demand for these technologies vary. Enterprising individuals see the amount of product and convenience it can produce, and care not for the land. Others see the technology as a self applied curse, and wish it would stay buried.
Regardless of demand, finding someone who can interpret it’s uses, and an intact Arcane Tech is a rare find indeed. This fact alone keeps ancient technology from making a resurgence.
